Why does removing the location in Google Photos not work properly? ⌄
Google Photos often only removes the geolocation in Google's internal database view, but leaves the physical GPS headers intact inside the raw image file. When you export or share the photo file directly, the exact address coordinates are still embedded. MutePhoto strips these binary EXIF blocks completely on your physical device.
How can strangers see where a photo was taken? ⌄
Every smartphone automatically writes EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) data into the file header. This contains latitude and longitude down to a few meters, date, altitude, and device ID. Anyone downloading your unaltered photo can view this information in seconds.
Do eBay Kleinanzeigen, Reddit, or Discord remove these coordinates? ⌄
Some web platforms re-encode files, but many messengers (Discord, Telegram in file transfer mode, email attachments, and community forums) transmit the original, untouched file. Relying on third-party websites for your personal safety is risky. MutePhoto ensures your picture is sanitized before upload.
Does removing metadata reduce image quality or resolution? ⌄
No. Only the invisible header records (GPS, timestamps, serial numbers) are wiped. The visible pixels and the optical resolution of your photo remain pristine.
How can I verify that no image is uploaded to a remote server? ⌄
You can turn off Wi-Fi and Cellular Data entirely after loading MutePhoto. The app will continue to inspect and clean photos because all operations run strictly in your browser's local RAM. You can also inspect the network activity in your browser's developer console (F12).
